About this Episode

Preacher: Joel Fair
Scripture: Romans 1:3-4

Romans 1:16–17 (ESV)
For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith, as it is written, “The righteous shall live by faith.”

John 1:1–2 (ESV)
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God.

Romans 9:5 (ESV)
To them belong the patriarchs, and from their race, according to the flesh, is the Christ, who is God over all, blessed forever. Amen.

John 14:1, 6–7 (ESV)
“Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me...Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you had known me, you would have known my Father also. From now on you do know him and have seen him.”

Jeremiah 23:5 (ESV) Behold, the days are coming, declares the LORD, when I will raise up for David a righteous Branch, and he shall reign as king and deal wisely, and shall execute justice and righteousness in the land.

Luke 22:22 (ESV)
For the Son of Man goes as it has been determined, but woe to that man by whom he is betrayed!

1 Corinthians 15:12–17 (ESV)
Now if Christ is proclaimed as raised from the dead, how can some of you say that there is no resurrection of the dead? But if there is no resurrection of the dead, then not even Christ has been raised. And if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is in vain and your faith is in vain. We are even found to be misrepresenting God, because we testified about God that he raised Christ, whom he did not raise if it is true that the dead are not raised. For if the dead are not raised, not even Christ has been raised. And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile and you are still in your sins.

1 Corinthians 15:20–22 (ESV)
But in fact Christ has been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. For as by a man came death, by a man has come also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive.

Paul David Tripp - Do You Believe?
Every point of the theology of Scripture, when rightly understood, leads us to the cross of Jesus Christ. Now, you may think, “Paul, how do you get from the words ‘Let us make man in our image’ to the hill of Calvary?” The answer is that the image of God is most powerfully expressed and most fully seen in the Son of God, the Son of Man, Jesus Christ. On earth, in the flesh, Jesus stands before us as the ultimate image bearer. In him the image is not dented or damaged in any way. In him we see God’s image in perfect expression in every decision, every word, every thought, every desire, and every aspect of his character, all spotlessly righteous. It is an amazing, important, and life-changing thing to behold.

Matthew 1:21 (ESV)
She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.

Psalm 146:10 (ESV)
The LORD will reign forever, your God, O Zion, to all generations. Praise the LORD!

1 Corinthians 15:23–28 (ESV)
But each in his own order: Christ the firstfruits, then at his coming those who belong to Christ. Then comes the end, when he delivers the kingdom to God the Father after destroying every rule and every authority and power. For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet. The last enemy to be destroyed is death. For “God has put all things in subjection under his feet.” But when it says, “all things are put in subjection,” it is plain that he is excepted who put all things in subjection under him. When all things are subjected to him, then the Son himself will also be subjected to him who put all things in subjection under him, that God may be all in all.

Exodus 6:7 (ESV)
I will take you to be my people, and I will be your God, and you shall know that I am the LORD your God, who has brought you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians.

Romans 10:9 (ESV)
because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
